The Sherry Netherland, 781 Fifth Avenue

Co-op located in Upper East Side, between East 59th Street & East 60th Street

Description of The Sherry Netherland at 781 Fifth Avenue

The Sherry Netherland, which rises 38 stories above the Grand Army Plaza and Central Park, channels elegance from the barrel-vaulted lobby to the tip of the copper spire. Over the years, the ornate, landmarked Neo-Gothic cooperative has hosted residents such as pilot and entrepreneur Howard Hughes, musician Diana Ross, director Francis Ford Coppola, Jim Henson of The Muppets, and TV host and judge Judy Sheindlin, better known as Judge Judy.

The building features a recently restored ceiling mural in the lobby based on Raphael's frescoes at the Vatican Palace. It is a full service white-glove cooperative with 24-hour doorman, concierge and attended elevators. Residents may enjoy hotel services, including daily maid service (included in your monthlies), an on-site fitness center, hair salon, valet parking, and room service available from Harry Cipriani.

Carter Horsley's Review of The Sherry Netherland

Carter Horsley's Building Review
"A strong argument can be made that the Sherry Netherland Hotel at 781 Fifth Avenue on the northeast corner at 59th Street is the best building in New York.

The major other contenders, of course, are the Chrysler, Empire State, Woolworth and Helmsley buildings and 570 Lexington Avenue, and some might also throw in the Plaza and Waldorf-Astoria hotels, the Seagram Building, Lever House and the San Remo apartment building." Read Carter's Full Review
